Sitting outside in lines is a common thing you would see in South Africa. Sometimes people will wait for hours to see a doctor in the hot sun. We took a moment to bless the food and to invite Jesus into the experience.
Everyone had to carry their own chairs in, Maria's okay with it though :)

Amara points out that the food is eaten...everyone ate traditional South African curry, samosa, rice and homemade peanut butter stew from Ghana.

As apart of our evangelism experience, we made salvation bracelets: Black - sin, red- blood of Jesus, White- cleansed from our sin, Blue - filled with the Holy Spirit, Green - grow in our love & knowledge of God, Yellow- We have the promise of heaven

We also did a special project where we wrote encouraging notes to each other. After all, missions is about loving people, that includes each other!

We had an amazing overnighter to bring to an end our fundraising for Lifeline. The $2000 that we raised will help the children of South Africa! It was a life-changing night for many. God really moved during our worship and prayer time for the nations of the world. The following morning we picked up trash along Massillon Rd. We found all kinds of interesting "treasures".

We had an awesome service last night, and to keep that freedom going we need to learn to stand upon God's word everyday. Its not through our own strength that we are set free but through God's strength and power! Keep seeking out His power and strength!! Print this out and memorize these or hang them up in your room, but fill yourself up with the word and apply it to your life!

FUNDRAISERS FOR LIFELINE

We held two fundraisers for Lifeline that raised a total of $600, the first one was a car wash on a rainy day and then we did a BBQ at the Hartville Park on May 10th. It was awesome to work hard and raise money for the people of South Africa. It feels good to do something for others :)

We had Craze on April 22nd and it was a wild night! Check out the pictures so you can see what the competition was like. Austin shared his testimony and we had a great night

Helping at the Haven of Rest

We spent the evening serving at the Haven of Rest (our local homeless shelter) serving and cleaning. It was an awesome opportunity to reach out and help others. You can tell that it was important that we were careful not to get any hair in the food, the hairnets are so fashionable! We set up for dinner, served, washed dishes and cleaned up afterward. Join us next time!

"Lifeline" is a Unique Experience in Changing the World

On Tuesday, April 1st we introduced Lifeline, a missions project that helps the people of South Africa receive medicine, food, and other needed resources to give them a better life. This program is through Crossroads International an amazing missions organization that is effectively reaching thousands of people monthly through their programs.

Lifeline is a fundraising program with a twist. We will be actively raising money for the people of South Africa through a 5-mile walk sponsorship, individual giving, and group fundraisers. But, it's more than that. We will also be experiencing community outreach right here in Akron during the event! So we will be raising money for South Africa while reaching out to the people around us. It's a lesson is everyday missions. We will also be learning about the South African culture, eating great food, and spending time together! Does it seriously get any better than this?

$10 Prom "Timewarp" Pics

Mike Caruso won best dressed (which was well-deserved) his whole suit was made out of duct tape and took him 2 weeks to make! It's pretty impressive! Now, whatever Mitch is doing, is uncertain...he tried to get in as many pictures as possible...he didn't win, but he very well might be the best dressed :)

This is just a glimpse of what we've been experiencing these last 2 months! We didn't have Verge 4 times this winter because of the weather! I hope you are all ready for a Spring full of weekly services :) It's about time! We miss seeing your faces every week...it almost feels like winter will never end. Holiday Hullabaloo 2

Our Holiday Hullabaloo 2 was lots of fun! We had a fun contest and then celebrated by eating candy and hanging out. Okay, so we do know that Christmas is about so much more than that...we focused on our Savior most of all that night. He is the reason for the season after all.

On Friday, March 14th at 6:30 pm we are holding our 4th annual $10 Prom at Guy's Party Center. We are excited to announce that this year's theme is "Timewarp" which will showcase outfits and music from all the eras of the 1900's. This one-of-a-kind event is named for the cost of your outfit (thrift store finds), not the cost of the event. Here are the details:

Date: Friday, March 14th

Time: 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Place: Guy's Party Center (www.guyspartycenter.com)

Cost: $15.00 (includes dinner, music, dessert, prizes)

Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes in different categories. Don't be afraid to dress up! This is a prom afterall...

$10 Prom 2007

$10 Prom brought out the crazy in all of us! We really had a great time dancing the night away. The theme for the year was "Masquerade" so many people unleashed their creative side and made their own masks. People are already talking about how excited they are for next year!

Phil Fisher and Rachael Banar are the reigning $10 Prom King and Queen 2007! Congratulations, you deserve it!

We have a contest each year for the best dressed girl and guy, but this year we also added the best mask category. Lauren & Austin won the best dressed category and Jordyn's mask took the prize for best mask! You guys really are amazing!

We spent a day volunteering at various organizations in Akron. It was a great chance to support places like the Haven of Rest (pictured here). We peeled hundreds of apples for them that day, it was a lot of work and a lot of fun!

We also volunteered at the Salvation Army to help them set up for their toy giveaway. It was a great opportunity to see how many people they help each year! Phil was in the quality control department...after this all he could say is "I wanna go fast!" Doing things for our community is a huge part of what we are about. Source Retreat

Ok, so the picture is a little blurry...if you have a better one send it to me! Suffield Fellowship's youth group, "THE VOLT" joined us on our retreat. We were glad to make some new friends!

Worship is really what defines Verge. God deserves it, so we give Him everything we have!

Every year we have an opportunity to go away for a weekend so we can grow a little closer to each other and to God. This year our retreat was about our "Source," He gives us everything we need to make it in life. We had the most amazing time! There were almost 60 of us that went and each person has a story to tell of what God did in them. Ask us, we'll tell you!
